The Practice
Welcome to The People’s Pain Clinic
I’m glad you’re here.
My name is Kathryn Pierce and I am the founder of The People’s Pain Clinic.
The People’s Pain Clinic focuses on orthopedic and musculoskeletal medicine — care designed to address problems involving the muscles, joints, nerves, and connective tissue that commonly cause pain and limit movement.
This approach overlaps with sports medicine, but you do not need to be an athlete to benefit. Many patients simply want to move comfortably again — whether that means working at a computer without neck tension, exercising without flare-ups, or getting through the day without constant irritation.
The primary goal of treatment is to identify which structures are not functioning properly, and help restore normal movement using targeted, evidence-informed techniques.
A focused approach to pain and movement problems
Orthopedic acupuncture is commonly used for:
- Neck and shoulder pain
- Low back and hip pain
- Knee pain and tendon irritation
- Wrist and forearm repetitive strain
- Sciatica and nerve irritation
- Muscle tightness and movement restriction
- Sports injuries
- Chronic pain patterns that have not fully resolved with other treatments
Many patients come in after trying massage, chiropractic care, physical therapy, or general acupuncture but feel something is still missing. Often, the issue is not simply tight muscles, but how the body is coordinating movement and managing load over time.
What makes this approach different
This style of acupuncture is based on functional assessment and biomechanics.
Rather than focusing only on symptom location, the treatment process evaluates:
- how muscles activate
- how joints move
- where compensation patterns have developed
- whether nerves are being irritated or restricted
- which structures are contributing most to pain
Treatment often includes electroacupuncture, a modern technique where a gentle electrical current is applied through acupuncture needles. This allows stimulation to reach deeper neuromuscular structures and is commonly used in orthopedic and sports medicine settings.
Research suggests electroacupuncture helps:
- reduce pain signaling
- improve muscle activation
- increase local circulation
- support tissue recovery
- help the nervous system reset dysfunctional patterns
The goal is not simply temporary relief, but improved function over time.
What a visit is like
Appointments are calm, focused, and straightforward.
We discuss what is bothering you, I evaluate how your body is moving, and treatment is applied in a targeted way.
After the needles are placed, you rest comfortably for a short period while the treatment works.
Many patients find this part of the visit surprisingly relaxing.
The overall experience is meant to feel both productive and supportive — helping the body change while giving the nervous system a chance to settle.
The Clinic Space
The People’s Pain Clinic is located inside 634 Center for Health, a quiet natural medicine clinic inside a converted home.
The building is shared by several healthcare providers who each specialize in different types of care. I am currently the only acupuncturist practicing in the building.
The space is clean, simple, and professional. The walls are painted a soft sage green with warm cream accents, creating a calm environment without feeling overly clinical.
Treatment takes place in Suite 1, a bright and comfortable room designed to help you feel at ease during care.
There is a small parking lot on site, which works best for standard or compact-sized vehicles.
Street parking is available for larger vehicles.
Photos of the space will be available soon on the clinic’s Google listing.
